We are happy to have back at Fortress Callosum one of our favorite local folk-pop bands, Eight Belles, aka songwriter and vocalist Jessi Phillips and guitarist Henry Aloysius Nagle. If Harry Nilsson and Patsy Cline had a love child and left it in the forest to be raised by wolves, its cries would sound very similar to this music.

OAV from Vancouver is described as “one of the most fascinating and singular musical projects to come out of Vancouver in recent memory” (Discorder Magazine). The quintet is redefining West Coast avant-pop music with woven keyboard lines and adventurous vocal trio arrangements that bring to mind Bjork and The Dirty Projectors. RJ’s eclectic songwriting draws on her formidable classical piano chops and her commitment to avant-garde music.

An eclectic musician, Ariel Wang’s songs will bring you to the Appalachians and then throw you into a psychedelic trance. Her music speaks of sadness and longing, love made and grown, tigers who come to play, and an ever longing to break any and all boundaries conceived. Whether on the guitar or fiddle, banjo or foot-tapping, her tunes are refreshing yet timeless.
